Fallout New Vegas, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks has a ton of great gameplay. The only major issue I have found so far would be that it does like to freeze up. I have only played on the PS3, so I can't compare on other systems. Also there are quite a few glitches which cause the game to freeze up. If you don't remember to save often, you will likely find yourself frustrated and possibly giving up on the game.
A tip I offer is to save several game files. It is very easy to accidentally kill the wrong person or make them hate you and therefore you fail a quest.
The Speech and Barter skills are extremely important as they control how well you negotiate and influence characters in the game. Other than that, the game is pretty much open to however you want to play it.
You can side with many or few factions, or with zero if you want to go at it solo and piss everybody off. Siding with NCR, the New California Republic, makes the game the easiest. If you're looking for a real challenge, go Hardcore mode. here you have to keep an eye on Food, Hydration, and Sleep meters to make it seem more realistic.
There are many optional parts of quests offered, which should almost always be completed. Otherwise you're going to piss off the wrong person for having lied and then become hated by their faction when you have to kill them.
Unlike many games, the Collector's Edition was not that impressive. It comes with a few items but nothing too impressive. Here is a list of the items that come in the CE according to Amazon.com:
- "Lucky 7" poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
- A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game.
- A recreation of the game's highly coveted "Lucky 38" platinum chip.
- A hardcover graphic novel "All Roads", that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. "All Roads" was written by Chris Avellone and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
- The Making of Fallout: New Vegas' DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation.
Overall, I'd give it an 8/10 due to the freezing and glitches, but once those are worked out, I would go up to a 9.
